Conceptual Account Executive Project

The problem

Our product Playbooks was too prescriptive for many account executives and account managers. They needed a tool that helped remind them of tasks in each stage of the opportunity, added flexibility, and team-based selling capabilities.

Sketching and IA

We consistently heard complaints from AEs and AMs about how our product just didn’t allow them to work opportunities well. To start off, we met with a member of our strategy team and a lead on our customer success team to get their perspective and hear what they’ve heard from some of our enterprise customers.

We wrote down what we heard, categorized it, and I then prioritized and began sketching.

Wireframes

Below are the first pixels I put down. Truly stunning, I know. But it helps me organize my thoughts and begin playing with layout further.

After exploring different interaction types, I decided to have a panel with an individual task slide over and condense the table. That allows users to drill down and view the information they need and take action where and when they need to.

Below is one of the more refined wireframes I showed for feedback. Users would be able to call, email, and text their prospect while navigating to their social profile or LinkedIn.

Feedback

The designs were well received internally. They liked the friendlier design and believed that the interaction patterns would work well for AEs and AMs. Below are my notes and additional questions that were raised that would need to solve for in the next design if it were to become a final product.

Next steps

With the feedback above, a refined design and an animated prototype to test with a handful of our enterprise customers was the planned next step.
